Dear Beckett,

You started Kindergarten this morning. Oh my goodness… KINDERGARTEN! I know that you have been anticipating this all summer, and you are ready! You are excited! You make these kinds of days easier on Mommy than they should be. You’re out-going and confident. You make new friends without any trouble and love reconnecting with familiar faces. You are radiant, joyful and your smile lights up any room. You look so handsome. I am so proud of you.

There are days that I look back at pictures and videos of you as a wispy, curly-haired baby and wonder where the time has gone. It’s hard to understand the immense impression you’ve made on me, in those five years. You are an essential part of my life and I can’t believe that I ever lived without you. You have filled every crack and crevasse of my heart with a love that cannot be quantified. You are everything I ever could have hoped for in a child. You are my shining achievement. God answered my every prayer when you were born, and continues to bless me with how you grow. You and your Daddy, the family we make, are my dream-come-true. I will never know what I did to deserve you, but I promise to spend my whole life making sure that I never fail you. You, my son, are everything.

“Congratulations! Today is your day. You’re off to great places! You’re off and away!”

I love you, Beckett, to infinity and beyond,

Diane Rose
