Dear Remy,

I want to tell you a little bit about your family.

I’ll start with your daddy, because without him, there is no us. He is the heartbeat of this family. He is constant, strong, dedicated and his love for us is something I couldn’t have expected, but have watched in awe as each day passes with immense pride. This family began when he chose me, and I’ll never know how I got so lucky. He will protect you from what he can. He will think of every way to make your life full of great adventures. He will humbly guide you. He will celebrate your successes and comfort you in defeat. He will love you until his final breath.

Next, there is your big brother, Beckett. There isn’t another person on earth as excited to meet you as he is. He has been anticipating your arrival since the day we told him you were growing inside my belly. He has proudly told everyone about you, has loved on you and is excited to teach you everything he’s learned. He has the brightest imagination and his creativity pours out onto paper and in stories he will surely soon be telling you. He is kind. He is confident. He will hold your hand when you are unsure. He is your daddy’s and mine, dream-come-true. You, little Remy, are our miracle. There is nothing I look forward to more than the relationship the two of you mold.

Finally, I am your mommy. I have known you the longest. You grew big and strong enough to survive this world inside my belly. I felt your movements. I relished in the opportunity to raise a daughter, to be a mommy all over again. I have been excitedly awaiting the chance to experience all the things I have almost forgotten from when your brother was so new. You and I will have an immediate bond, and I will spend my whole life trying to preserve and nurture that bond throughout your life. I will make mistakes, and you and I will not always agree. But, I will fight for you. I will defend you. I will march alongside you as you make your mark on this earth. I will always be your biggest fan. There is nothing I wouldn’t sacrifice for you and your brother’s health and happiness. You both reflect everything that is good in my life, my greatest loves, the utmost blessing from God.

Welcome to the world, welcome to our tribe, we love you so much already.

So deep, and so touching. You made me cry, Diane Rose. After reading this post I love you, Matt and your children a lot more. You are the type of people who decorate our world, and wash all the stains from its face. You give love and humanity a face, and a lovely one.
